The Orchard Park Soccer Club Goalkeeper Curriculum is designed not only to develop technical skills but also to instill Orchard Park’s values and prepare goalkeepers for the unique challenges and opportunities within the Orchard Park community and beyond.
Coach David Cappuccio’s Vision:
David Cappuccio is dedicated to exposing young goalkeepers at Orchard Park Soccer Club to the type of training required to reach higher levels of soccer. With his background in professional coaching and passion for player development, Coach Cappuccio emphasizes the following goals:
- Technical Proficiency: Coach Cappuccio prioritizes teaching proper technique from a young age, laying a strong foundation for future success.
- Tactical Awareness: Understanding the game and making quick, effective decisions on the field are key elements of Coach Cappuccio’s coaching philosophy.
- Mental Toughness: Developing resilience and mental fortitude is crucial for goalkeepers, and Coach Cappuccio incorporates mental training into the curriculum.
- Preparation for Higher Levels: Coach Cappuccio’s ultimate goal is to prepare goalkeepers for the demands of higher levels of soccer, whether it be collegiate play or beyond.
Dave Cappucio Bio
David Cappuccio, a native of Pittsford, NY has been involved in the western new york soccer community for the past 30 years.
During his youth, he played for the Rochester Junior Rhinos, the only team from new York West to ever win the Premier Club National Championship. As a member of the Olympic Development team Western New York, David was selected to numerous Region One (Northeast 16 states) teams, and one national pool camp in Bradenton Florida.
David had a productive four year division 1 soccer career at Colgate University, where he recorded the most shutouts and had the highest save percentage in school history. The Raiders, during David’s time at Colgate, won two Patriot League championships and competed against top schools such as Duke, Boston College, and South Florida University in NCAA tournament action.
Following graduation, David went on to the University at Buffalo School of Dental Medicine, became a Dentist and started a family. More recently David has spent a lot of time playing in the Buffalo and District Soccer League and running men’s league teams. He has also been active coaching the Hilbert Men’s Soccer team and his children in the Orchard Park House League.
Soccer has always been a passion for David and he looks to give back to the soccer community that enriched his life throughout the years.
Jim Lemley Bio
Jim “Lobster” Lemley is an extremely experienced Soccer and Goalie Coach with a professional playing background. He is adept at coaching players of all ages to improve their game in all facets. Jim holds a US National C License as well as a Youth National Goalkeeper license.
Jims professional playing experiences have brought him all over the country to teams such as the Detroit Rockers, Las Vegas Dust Devels and the San Diego Sockers!
Since 1987 Jim has Coached a number of teams and clubs all over the country. From 1995 – 2007 and again in 2017-2022 he worked as the Youth Director of Coaching and Goalkeeping fulfilling numerous responsibilities. He most recently was a goalkeeper and a head coach within the Buffalo Stallions (Empire) organization. We are very excited to have Jim’s expertise and experience on board at Orchard Park!
Jordan Brown Bio
Jordan is a current Collegiate Soccer player at Hilbert College. In her very first game as a freshman, Jordan was awarded AMCC Defensive player of the week. Jordan coached in the Orchard Park Winter Goalkeeping Academy throughout this last winter and she is an active referee. Jordan is very excited to continue to grow as a player and a coach! The feedback from the Winter OP Academy has been fantastic and we are very excited that she will continue making a huge difference for our club!
